We are pleased to announce the winners of the first ever photomonth Youth Photography Award, sponsored by the Sony World Photography awards:
OVERALL WINNER: Jasper Cox, 16, Milton Keynes
Following the theme for the first Photomonth Youth Award in support of the UNICEF Convention of the Rights of the Child Jasper’s winning image illustrates ‘Every child has the right to be heard’ with a group of young Malawian students in discussion.

RUNNER-UP: Syeda Tahmina Raza, 17, Tower Hamlets (London)
Syeda's photo ‘Every child has a right to a childhood’ was taken on her mobile phone in a local park and shows two teenagers in a playground on the under 5’s swings. Her image aims to portray that no matter how old you are, you may always express your inner child.

The theme for the first photomonth youth award was Children’s Rights in support of the 20th Anniversary of the UNICEF Convention of the Rights of the Child.

Entrants must be 11 to 19 years old and resident in the UK. You may submit up to three images, the deadline for submissions 14 December 2009.
The Overall winner - announced right - will travel to receive their award in Cannes in April 2010. The winning entries will also be exhibited during photomonth 2010.
